While Cape Town Magic Club’s “Monday Night Magic” has firmly established itself over five seasons as being the show for grownups, popular demand has prompted the Club to create a new family show for the young and the young at heart.

“Masters Of Magic” matinees begin on Sunday, 19 November in our intimate 60-seater theatre in the heart of one of Africa’s busiest tourist destinations, the V&A Waterfront. The first season will run until 17 December, at 2pm every week. We encourage families to join us for a wonderful, hilarious and magical journey of visual sleight-of-hand, incredible illusions, mind-boggling mentalism and so much more.

Each fun and entertaining one-hour Masters Of Magic show will be suitable for almost all ages - we do suggest audience members be seven years old or above.

The show is supported by GINJA Restaurant at The Victoria and Alfred Hotel and guests who present their tickets on the day of the show will be able to take advantage of a 5% discount on delicious artisanal and wholesome meals at this chic restaurant right on the water’s edge.

Prepare to be amazed and to sit in open-mouthed wonder as Cape Town Magic Club’s artists take you on a mind-bending journey down the rabbit hole, in a setting where you can closely watch their every move – and still have no idea how they do it.

Back by popular demand, Cape Town Magic Club re-opens for Season Six of Monday Night Magic at the V and A Waterfront

Since its inception in 2016, Monday Night Magic, presented by Cape Town Magic Club, has dazzled more than 3 500  audience members with a variety of illusions, sleight of hand, mentalism and, well … magic.

Monday Night Magic is bringing its sixth season of amazement and wonder to the heart of one of Cape Town’s busiest visitor attractions – the V and A Waterfront. Cape Town Magic Club’s new theatre will “pop up” in the Forum Conference and Banquet Centre, managed by The Victoria and Alfred Hotel.

With an extensive line-up of talent at its disposal, no two Monday Night Magic shows are alike. Guests can expect to see the talents of top local and international acts including TV stars, champions, and even performers travelling especially to perform in the theatre. From mind-reading to visual sleight of hand, the performers are certain to dazzle even the most sceptical adult audiences.

Season Six performers include Colin Underwood, Larry Soffer, Marcel Oudejans, Russell Fox and Greg Gelb. Spicing things up even more are special “magical burlesque” performances by Black Orchid Burlesque SA’s Bon Bon. These shows are, without a doubt, designed for an adult audience and confirm that magic is definitely not just for children’s parties.

While the venue may have changed, guests will still experience magic close up in the Club’s signature theatre, complete with raked seating so even people in the back row are, effectively, ‘in the front row’. Shows are at 7pm every week, with special 9pm shows featuring magical burlesque guest performer Bon Bon added by popular demand.

Says Marcel Oudejans, founder of Cape Town Magic Club and producer of Monday Night Magic: “We’re extremely proud of our growing base of supporters - both from Cape Town and visitors to our city - so we decided to begin our next season as soon as possible. The fact we are now located in such a desirable location at one of South Africa’s most visited tourist destinations will certainly help us make people aware of the amazing talent our performers have to share.”

The show is supported by GINJA Restaurant at The Victoria and Alfred Hotel and guests who present their tickets on the night of the show will be able to take advantage of a 5% discount on delicious artisanal and wholesome meals at this chic restaurant right on the water’s edge.

Cape Town Magic Club presents "Monday Night Magic" Season 5

MEDIA RELEASE

Since its inception in 2016, the Cape Town Magic Club has hosted four fantastic seasons of ‘Monday Night Magic’, dazzling more than 3000 audience members with a variety of illusions, sleight of hand, mentalism and, well…magic.

This September, Monday Night Magic returns for its fifth season in an elegant new home – The Vault of Taj Cape Town, a five-star luxury hotel steeped in as much history as magic itself.

Set in the heart of the CBD, Taj Cape Town occupies two historic buildings, retaining the architecture and many meticulously restored interior features of the original South African Reserve Bank and the old BoE building – formerly the Temple Chambers, built in 1890.  Taj’s doors open to a precinct that includes the national and provincial parliaments, Government Avenue leading through the 350-year-old Company’s Garden from St George’s Cathedral, the cosmopolitan crafts of St George’s Mall and Greenmarket Square, and a diversity of culture, art, entertainment and cuisine.

Monday Night Magic guests will be welcomed to the weekly shows, which take place at 7pm and 9pm, by the ever-glamorous members of Black Orchid Burlesque SA, dressed in vintage costume to set the tone for the experience ahead. In the art deco-styled ABC Bar, or retro Twankey Bar, you’ll be able to enjoy pre- or post-show drinks, including a special Monday Night Magic cocktail created by resident award-winning bartender and mixologist AJ Snetler aka The Tattooed Barman. Special dining options for Monday Night Magic guests will be offered in the hotel’s restaurants.

Then, downstairs in the intimate 50-seat theatre – in the actual underground bank vault – all manner of mystery will unfold…Cape Town Magic Club represents nearly 30 magicians who specialise in various disciplines, from stylish card tricks which will defy belief, to heart-stoppingly dangerous thrill acts. Anything goes in this underground playground.

With such an extensive line-up of talent at its disposal, no two Monday Night Magic shows are alike – not even the early and the late shows. Guests can expect to see the talents of top local and international acts including TV stars, champions, and even performers travelling especially to perform in the theatre. These shows are, without a doubt, designed for an adult audience and confirm that magic is definitely not just for children’s parties.

Says Marcel Oudejans, founder of the Cape Town Magic Club and producer of Monday Night Magic: “We’re very pleased that because of the enthusiastic support and feedback from our past audiences we’ve been given the opportunity to move to such a respected venue. Our performers are all excited to bring the best of their skills and new ‘tricks’ to our loyal local fans, magic-lovers and visitors to Cape Town, confirming we are Africa’s premier magic theatre.”

Prepare to be amazed and to sit in open-mouthed wonder as Cape Town Magic Club’s artists take you on a mind-bending journey down the rabbit hole, in a setting where you can closely watch their every move – and still have no idea how they do it.
